Background
Originally from South Africa, I have been living in Ireland since 2001. Following my experience as a Foster Carer with the HSE since 2004, I became interested in the impact of childhood trauma on the lives of adults which motivated me to start studying counselling.
After I finished my secondary schooling, I did military service for two years in the South African Air Force (compulsory), worked in a commercial bank, did a stint on a kibbutz in Israel and traveled around Europe for one year.
Back in South Africa I studied at the University of Stellenbosch and qualified with a B.A. degree in Political Science.
I have worked as a journalist for a large newspaper, served with the South African Foreign Service as a diplomat and was posted to Canada and Norway until I came to Ireland in 2001 to join up with my Irish partner.

A counselling session is generally scheduled for one hour per week and the number of sessions can be from one to six or more, depending on the issue(s). Together we will decide on the appropriate number of sessions
